Wire is the most relevant expo for companies
affiliated with the wire and cable industry and
related products and services; wire drawing and
drawing equipment, cable assembly, machinery,
coating & other surface treatment.
The Wire Expo was held in Moscow, Russia this year between 18-20 June. There were around 230 exhibitors from all over the world and more than 2000 visitors throughout the three days. This was the first time that Tungsram’s Advanced Materials and Services team participated as an exhibitor in such event. We presented ourselves in three different business segments: Tungsten wire and components, Drawing dies and Machine design & building capabilities. By attending the exhibition we had three main goals: the first was to make our introduction to this field by making ourselves present not just online but in-person as well. The second was to get new business opportunities and develop successful partnerships and lastly, to study other players and market trends in the wire and cable manufacturing industry while looking for the best practices and solutions.
Based on the team’s experience it was a successful exhibition; we achieved all three goals. We met a couple of potential new partners; some of them directly looked for the Tungsram booth because they read about our capabilities beforehand. We had a meeting with the world’s largest drawing die manufacturer and discussed the possibilities of a cooperation they were open to. The discussions we had with other players were useful to get a better understanding of this field and to receive some insider hints. The Advanced team is already working on the follow-up with the partners we met at Moscow to further characterize the opportunities and establish long-term partnerships.
